History of Mother's Day:
Mother's Day dates back to ancient Greeks and Romans who held festivals in honour of mother goddesses. The American incarnation of Mother's Day dates back to 1908 and was officially designated as a national holiday to be held on the second Sunday of May, in 1914, by Woodrow Wilson. Mother's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world, but not all on the same day, although most are still celebrated in the month of May.
So in honour of our mothers, mother figures, step-mothers, grandmas, aunts, sisters and friends; lets continue to show our appreciation for their role in society and in families because, where would we be without their love, strength and support?!

Mother's Day Flower:
The carnation is the traditional flower of Mother's Day, but there are some other beauty blooms that are popular too, like roses, tulips, lilies, daisies and orchids. A fresh bouquet of these flowers mixed together is always a winner! Or try a more modern, long lasting option, like a terrarium filled with succulents and air plants.

The Colour of Mother's Day:
The traditional colour of Mother's Day is pink, no surprise there! The colour pink is the colour of universal love of oneself and others, and symbolizes sweetness, playfulness, romance, femininity, and tenderness, all to which could describe a few mothers I know! Different hues and shades of pink mixed together can be quite lovely in a bouquet, although, brighter, bolder colours combos are becoming the new trend.
